Escape on a Wellness Break

"From the moment I stepped off the plane I felt I was going to have the best time ever. I didn’t have any expectations before I arrived but once Susannah and James met us I felt an overwhelming sense of being taken into their family".
Susan

Do you yearn to get away from it all, but not too far?

Do you want space to be yourself, but lack time?

Do you love to learn new things?

Do you adore beautiful scenery?

Would you enjoy a small, friendly, home-from-home environment?

If so, our wellness breaks may be just what the doctor ordered.

Our wellbeing mini breaks are designed for the busy person who wants to make the most of their time away. Combine a stay in our unique and welcoming home with learning, relaxation and some of the most stunning scenery the Highlands has to offer, overlooking the famous Loch Ness, but well away from all the tourists.

Groups are small, with no more than 5 guests, so you’ll get plenty of attention from your friendly hosts. Susannah’s family has been involved in the area for over a century, and she is looking forward to welcoming you to her home.

Your mini break includes accommodation in a shared twin room, plus all your meals, tuition, resources and transport to and from Inverness. So, if you’re in need of an escape from the everyday combined with informal learning and meeting new friends, read on to explore what’s on offer in 2024.

Fascia, Food and Friendship
19 - 22 July 2024

This is for you if you’ve been experiencing stiffness, aches and pains.  Award-winning myofascial release expert Nikki Robinson came to us last year as a guest and loved it so much that she’s returning as a host.  Nikki will teach you gentle, safe yet powerful techniques for releasing tension, reducing pain, improving posture and much more. If you’re not sure what myofasical release is, take a look on Nikki’s website, www.holisticare.com.

While you’re with us, you’ll also take care of your musculoskeletal system with recipes to support healthy bones, muscles and joints, reduce inflammation and give you energy.  As with all Susannah’s cooking, lessons will be informal and fun, and the recipes will be easy to prepare at home.

If you’re looking to release tension in every way this year, come and join us.

Mindfulness, Meditation & Cooking
23 - 27 August 2024

Are you in need of more mindfulness in your life?  Do you want to reconnect with your needs and desires and take a step closer to making them a reality?  Have you had a tough few years and lost sight of who you are and what you want from life?  If so, come and find some space that’s just for you and be guided by our expert mindfulness and meditation leader, Heather Prince.

On this break, we’ll also be exploring the local area by car and steam railway.  There will be time to shop, eat and maybe even enjoy a boat trip on Loch Ness.

Meanwhile, you’ll nourish your body as much as your mind with plenty of cooking activities, and nutrients to support your mental wellbeing while we take care of you physically in our beautiful and relaxing home-from-home.

If you need to get away from it all but still be connected with others, come and join us.

Pilates & Cooking
9 - 12 August 2024

Have you ever wanted to try Pilates but were not quite sure how or where to begin?  Have you been doing Pilates for a while and would like the opportunity to improve while you enjoy beautiful scenery?  Are you looking for a positive, friendly, small-group environment where everyone of any shape, size and fitness level is welcome?  If so, you’re in the right place.  Your instructor, Ceza, has been teaching Pilates for more than a decade.  You’ll practice routines to wake you in the morning, relax you at night, and everything in between.

Meanwhile you’ll be able to create a series of lovely recipes that will feed your body and your mind and enable you to get a wide range of supportive nutrients packaged into a delicious series of meals.  We always aim to include produce from our own garden, weather permitting.

When you’re not cooking or exercising, there are opportunities to stroll in the local area, chat round an open fire, or just relax.  The choice is yours.

Walking & Cooking (Adventurers)

This break is for walkers who have a higher level of confidence and fitness and would like to enjoy more challenging (but not gruelling) excursions.  Perhaps you have been on one of our Amblers breaks before and are ready for the next stage in your adventure.  Explore up to 8 miles at a time and expect some hill walking, uneven terrain and steep but steady climbs.  Our local guide Becki knows all the best places for wonderful views and great picnics.

Speaking of picnics, we’ll be exploring healthy ideas for portable food, and looking at nutrients to support walking fitness and flexibility, as well as any other topics you’re interested in.  Where possible we’ll be using local ingredients, including vegetables and fruits from our own garden.

From £517 for a shared twin room (single room currently available)
