No, I’m not a HAES practitioner. HAES is a particular philosophy and methodology, which encompasses intuitive eating. Although I’m hugely supportive of the HAES principles, in particular that health is available to you at any size, I’m not yet qualified to practice HAES or coach in intuitive eating, but I’m very qualified in nutritional therapy (see ‘About Me’ for details).
Intuitive eating is a fantastic tool for those in recovery from eating disorders, and for survivors of weight loss culture, but it probably won’t help for specific health goals. If you come to me with blood pressure issues, or low mood, or reflux, teaching you how to listen to your body and eat intuitively may help a bit, but it’s unlikely to get to the source of the problem. For that, you’re going to need recommendations tailored to your personal symptoms, health history, lifestyle, needs and preferences. That’s what nutritional therapy can do for you.
