Spring may be just around the corner but it’s still cold outside.

Come and warm up in the kitchen and celebrate chocolate mint day and Strawberry day at the same time.

Favourite seasonal foods this month include onions, leeks, mushrooms and parsnips.  Come and enjoy then all.

Give the Gift of Cooking

Are you stuck for a gift that’s original, useful and fun?  How about a gift voucher for ‘Kids in the Kitchen’?  This gift is suitable for children age 7-14.  One voucher is valid for one device shared by up to 2 children.  It’s valid for 3 months and there will be 6 workshops to choose from in that time.  Perhaps the youngster who receives it will even share the goodies they’ve made with you!

‘Kids in the Kitchen’ is a fun, positive online cookery club.  Every fortnight we meet on Zoom to cook a 2-course meal for the whole family in 90 minutes or less. You’ll get a full list of ingredients and equipment before the workshop, and you’ll get the recipes sent to you afterwards so you can continue to try them at home.

How do we get involved?

There are two ways to be part of ‘Kids in the Kitchen’:

.

Pay as you Go

Join as many classes as you want to and pay per class.  It’s £12 each time, and there’s no minimum commitment.  You’ll know what the menu is in advance so you can choose the workshops you’ll enjoy the most.

All our menus can be adapted for vegetarians, gluten free, dairy free and refined sugar free families.

Become a subscriber

For a monthly payment of £40 you get to join 2 live classes and have 2 additional recorded recipes sent to you so you can cook along.  In your fortnightly email you’ll not only receive your recordings and written recipes, but bitesize information and fun activities based around the menu as well.  As we build the subscription service, more activities will be added, so don’t forget to tell your friends!

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is it for?

‘Kids in the Kitchen’ is particularly suitable for children age 7-14 (school years 3-8), but we have flexibility at each end of the age range.  Primary school children will need help from an adult throughout the session.  Secondary school children should be able to manage most of our recipes with minimal support.

What kind of food do you make?

We make a 2-course meal in every session – normally main course and dessert.  All the recipes are either vegetarian or have a vegetarian option.  Every recipe can be made gluten free, dairy free and refined sugar free, so is suitable for many dietary needs – children missing out due to dietary requirements is the worst!  Many of our recipes do use nuts, so if your child has a nut allergy, let me know so I can devise a nut-free session.

We emphasise fresh, seasonal vegetables and fruits.  We also keep an eye on events and festivals from a variety of cultures, and include menus which celebrate these.  We aim to keep ingredients accessible and affordable, but we may occasionally include something more unusual just for fun!

What happens if my child doesn’t like a particular ingredient or has an unusual allergy?

Just let me know!  Most recipes are adaptable for different tastes, so if your child is a bit particular there’s no problem.  We do encourage children to try different foods if they are able, though. There’s never any pressure, but often our children end up enjoying something they never thought they would eat, especially when they see other children doing the same.

"My children and I have attended a couple of Susannah's online Kids in the Kitchen classes and I can't recommend them enough. Susannah is able to engage with the children really well and on a level that they understand and enjoy. She's got them cooking and trying foods that I have failed many times to do. At the end of each session they are already excited and looking forward to the next one."
